Do I get paid for a bank holiday if I am temping for you? |
| A: |
If your assignment falls either side of a bank holiday you are entitled to payment for the bank holiday. |

If I work on a bank holiday do I get a day in lieu? |
| A: |
Yes. You are entitled to either a day in lieu or a day’s pay. The hours you actually work will be paid at the company’s agreed overtime rate for a bank holiday and then you either opt for your normal day’s pay or a day in lieu in addition. |

Do I need to register and, if so, how do I go
about this? |

Yes, but you don't have to do this on the
website - you can simply call or e-mail our office
and we will make an appointment for you to come in
and meet with a consultant. We'll then help you
complete the simple registration paperwork. |

Do I need a CV? Can you help me write one? |

Yes, we need a CV so we have a precise and
proper record of who you are and what you've done to
date. This will be used to ensure we approach the
right clients on your behalf. If you don't have a
CV, or it needs updating, we'll work with you to do
this. |

Will you be sending out the CV that I have
produced to your clients? |

No, we will prepare a CV for you in our own
format and on our headed paper which will then be
forwarded to our clients. |

Everyone has different skill sets,
therefore we are keen to meet with everyone to find
out what they want to do. Office skills can be
taught and qualifications are not essential with

Yes, your consultant will work with you for
each and every potential job and give you all the
advice you need related to the client, their
industry, ethos and expectations. |

Absolutely, your CV will not be sent out
until each potential job has been discussed with

informed every step of the way. |

When will I hear from you? |

We will start working for you within 24
hours of your visit to Excel, therefore will be back
in touch within that timeframe. After that we ask
that you call us frequently for updates. |

Will you need to call me during normal working

We are happy to call you at a time that is
suitable for you. This can be before work, lunch
times or any time during the evening. |

Yes, we are a Corporate Member of the
Recruitment and Employment Confederation and each
consultant is an Individual Member. |

I have heard the term 'five year rule'
discussed, what does that mean? |

This means that a business has to apply for
a licence to employ you if you have not been
resident in the island for five years or more. Many
companies have licences available in which case they
don't need to apply. |

If I want to temp, how does that work? |
| A: |
As with any employment, you will need to
register with us and meet us and then we will work
to find the sort of job you're after. As an Excel
temp you become an employee of Excel Recruitment and
we will go through a full induction programme with
you. |

How does a temp get paid? |
| A: |
On receipt of a signed timesheet, you will be paid weekly by electronic transfer directly into your bank account on the Monday following the week you have worked. |

As a temp working for you do I get paid
holidays? |

Yes, you are entitled by law to 10 days
paid leave, which is pro-rated and added to your
hourly rate at 4%. |
